Takapuna Beach is a swimming beach in Auckland, North Shore. The live panel above shows today's swim score, water temperature, wave height, wind, UV, and a four-day forecast. It uses the same Open-Meteo marine and weather data we use on the main beach dashboard, and pre-selects this beach automatically.

About the beach

Takapuna is Auckland's urban north-shore swimming beach — a long crescent of pale sand looking directly at Rangitoto across the Hauraki Gulf. Cafes and apartments run right to the sand at the southern end. Easy parking, plenty of amenities.

When it swims best

November through April. Gulf-side water sits at 20–22 °C in peak summer.

What to watch for

Water quality after heavy rain — stay out for 48 hours after any significant downpour. Boat traffic near the southern end on weekends.

Water quality

Swim scores on this page combine live weather and marine conditions but do not include bacterial water-quality grades. Before swimming — particularly within 48 hours of heavy rain — check the LAWA site for the most recent E. coli and enterococci readings at this beach: lawa.org.nz/explore-data/swimming.
