Mission Bay is a swimming beach in Auckland, Eastern Bays. The live panel above shows today's swim score, water temperature, wave height, wind, UV, and a four-day forecast. It uses the same Open-Meteo marine and weather data we use on the main beach dashboard, and pre-selects this beach automatically.

About the beach

Mission Bay is the classic family swim beach of Auckland's eastern suburbs, 10 minutes from the CBD along Tamaki Drive. Pine trees, a fountain, fish and chips on the promenade, and the harbour view that every Aucklander recognises.

When it swims best

November through April. Gulf-side water, sheltered aspect — some of the best family swimming in Auckland.

What to watch for

Water quality after rain — the bay catches runoff from the surrounding suburbs. Check LAWA before swimming within 48 hours of any heavy downpour.

Water quality

Swim scores on this page combine live weather and marine conditions but do not include bacterial water-quality grades. Before swimming — particularly within 48 hours of heavy rain — check the LAWA site for the most recent E. coli and enterococci readings at this beach: lawa.org.nz/explore-data/swimming.
